The movie has obtained largely constructive to middling critiques. Empire’s Helen O’Hara gave it 4 stars: “This can be a slow-burning drama, virtually a thriller, anchored by a faultless efficiency from Kendrick and punctuated by a quietly monstrous flip from Carrick, as a person who thinks he is solely cheap. Nevertheless it’s in the end the heat of Mosaku and Horn that lingers within the thoughts, as the ladies who wake Alice up and stand along with her towards the omnipresent spectre of male violence.”
